Twinkle Star Sprites now on Steam!

Post by NeoStrayCat »

Hoping this things turns out to be true and not unlike that Capcom Poll for Progear which was only for a re-release OST. SNK Playmore has announced on the US PSN Blog mentioning about MS3 and it'll be playable at the PS Exp. soon. (http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/12/ ... #sf6155798)

Though the article also mentions a poll/vote for a list of possible NeoGeo games that would be released on PS systems (http://www.poll-maker.com/poll185929x7A504b88-7). And yes, for those shmup fans here, Twinkle Star Sprites (not "La Petite Princess") is mentioned in it (as well as a few other mixed titles, though currently Garou:MotW currently has high votes).

Anyways, just wanted to share some good news and if the chance TSS would be possibly coming over, though I think from a business standpoint, why not release all the titles from the poll, but oh well, at least hopefully something good would come out of this.
---
Update: Edited topic title to reflect new news on these possible steam ports (which would probably be released either way).

I've never played it but I heard the co-op was very fun. This on PS3 with multiplayer could potentially be very awesome. Voted.

Voted for Last Blade 2. If SNKP is planning this as a psuedo-revival of Neo-Geo Station, I hope M2 returns for the porting duties.

Some really odd choices there. Seriously, Shock Troopers 2nd Squad over the obviously superior first game?

Voted on Real Bout 2, btw.

Not an option because it's already on Neo-Geo Station for PS3, and these are all up for PS3/PS4/Vita multiplat releases.

Twinkle Star Sprites is super fun with friends over. I've rocked the Dreamcast version at a couple convention events and other meetups.

I'm amazed SS5S is even on that list. I never expected that game to even be considered for a port [because of its status as the very last official Neo-Geo game]. It really needs one, more than the rest.
like, I love Real Bout 2, but Samurai Shodown 5 Special really deserves it

I've suspected that the real reason Samurai Spirits Zero Special was held back from a port off the Neo is that the level of violence displayed in the character-specific fatalities (censored from the vanilla version due to the poor timing of a highly publicized child murder in Japan) would have brought the rating up to at least a CERO D, possibly even a Z. For Tenkaichi, they completely backed off from this and the game is bloodless. Sen also had all blood and fatalities removed for the Japanese market.

The Neo-Geo Station games all had netplay and the PS3/PS4/Vita ports of Metal Slug 3 have been confirmed to feature it, so I wouldn't worry about that.

man, I will be mad if there's no way to disable the censorship if 5S releases
Popped the game in MAME to play with my friends and we were surprised and impressed to see the really violent fatalities [the fucking vertical body split was a real crowd pleaser, I was playing as Rimururu when it happened to me].

Hanzo's bone snapping/dislocation with medical illustration close-ups and Suija bathing in the opponent's blood are my favorites. Yuki Enterprise really went all out with designing creative fatalities for the entire cast. It's too bad that Kusaregedo devouring the opponent happens offscreen.

Sen's fatalities are brutal, but none of them are character-specific, they're based on what type of slash is used for the final blow. Everyone shares the exact same basic throw attack as well, with only the ninjas having unique alternate grapples.

Probably because it's only an average game (the original is far better), and was never released or even prototyped for AES or CD.

Re: Twinkle Start Sprites (& other titles) coming to Steam!

Post by NeoStrayCat »

Well, it seems thanks to the recent Steam DB names that came up lately, Twinkle Star Sprites (https://steamdb.info/app/366280/subs/) is one of them (along with Metal Slug 2, Shock Troopers Baseball Stars 2, and even Garou: Mark of the Wolves.). Usually these names would mean the game will be coming to steam eventually, even Caladrius Blaze is listed there, but that's for another topic.

So yeah, hoping for competitive online versus play for TSS! X3

And yeah, I guess the NG Vote poll did make some difference though funny that they're bringing some titles to Steam, lol.

You can already do that on MAMEHub (and probably Supercade/GGPO/whatever it's called now) you know. And without any DRM getting in your way.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

^I don't give 2 shits about your problem about Steam and DRM, enough with it already. People have choices what and where they want it as/for.

Right now, I'm just spreading good faith for those that care.

Any information on who's doing the port? Here's hoping it's not Dotemu.

My guess is Code Mystics, the group who did the recent Metal Slug 3 port, Rare Replay, etc. They generally do good work.

They sure seem better than DotEmu. I wish it was both the original and the PS2 sequel though. If I remember right, the original is on the PS2 version anyway.

It's true you know.....
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

If Twinkle Star Sprites is really coming to Steam I'm 100% done with my social life.

Throw in online multiplayer and a ranked ladder and I'll be destroying that game 24/7.

https://www.humblebundle.com/ Big neogeo bundle appeared. Most are drm-free. No idea if they'll give steam keys if these games will appear on steam.

MathU is going to be happy: there are DRM free versions of everything! :D This is why I like Humble.

Now, warning, these seem to be all dotEmu versions... So I will try to stay mildly possitive and hope they won't suck ass. edit: Pulstar/Blazing Star when!?
